Public Notice

Pursuant to the provisions of WAC 197-11-510 and WAC 478-324-140, the University of Washington hereby provides public notice of the AVAILABILITY OF A DRAFT SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT*.

Project Name: UW Medical Center Expansion Project Phase 1 and 2A or 2B

Proponent: University of Washington

Description of Proposal: Design and construct a new building addition directly south and contiguous with the UW Medical Center’s Muilenberg and Pacific Towers. The expansion will be in two phases. The two phases will provide up to a total maximum allowed 264,500 gross square feet (GSF) approved by the minor plan change to the UW’s Master Plan 2003 for the Seattle Campus.

Phase 1 is a five-story addition totaling approximately 146,500. The new facility would be used to house space for diagnostic imaging, surgery, the nursing unit and the neonatal intensive care unit.

Phase 2 would either add an additional three floors to the Phase 1 building totaling approximately 89,500 gross square feet of additional building space (Phase 2A) or add four additional floors to the Phase 1 building totaling approximately 118,000 gross square feet of additional building space (Phase 2B).

Phase 1 of the facility is anticipated to open in mid 2011 with Phase 2A or 2B anticipated to open in mid 2017.

Location of Proposal: 1705 NE Pacific Street, University of Washington, Seattle campus.

Public Hearing: A public hearing has not been scheduled. The provisions of WAC 197-11-535 shall apply.
