Baltic exhibit set May 18

The Martin-Zambito Fine Art Gallery, at 721 E. Pike St. in Seattle will offer an exhibit titled The Baltic-American Community in King County: An Exhibit Featuring Members of the Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Communities, from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 18, with a short program at 4 p.m.

The exhibit tells the story of 19 members of the Baltic community in King County through current portraits by notable Northwest photographer Mary Randlett, photographs from their personal collections and their own words.

Through their personal statements in the accompanying booklet they tell their own stories about life in King County and how they have preserved their identity as Americans and as Estonians, Latvians and Lithuanians.

This exhibit was organized by the UW Libraries Special Collections and funded by a grant from 4Culture and a gift from Nancy Nordhoff. Additional funding was provided by the UW’s Baltic Studies Program, its Slavic and East European Division and the Lithuanian-American Community in Seattle, as well as from the Libraries 21st Century Fund.
