Paul Taylor Dance Company at Meany May 1-3

The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to Meany Hall May 1-3 as part of the UW World Series. The popular company, now in its 53rd year, will perform at 8 p.m. each night.

Once considered dangerously experimental and avant-garde, Paul Taylor’s choreography is now considered the gold standard of modern dance. In his long career, Taylor has successfully bridged the worlds of contemporary dance and ballet, and his creative skills show no signs of abating after more than 52 years and 127 dances.

The Paul Taylor Dance Company has performed Taylor’s works in more than 520 cities in 62 countries. The company has represented the United States at arts festivals in more than 40 countries and has toured extensively under the aegis of the U.S. State Department. At the same time, it performs more than half of each touring season in cities throughout the United States.

Tickets for the Meany Hall concerts are $45 ($42 for subscribers and $20 for students) and may be purchased by phone at 206-543-4880, online at www.uwworldseries.org or in person at the UW Arts Ticket Office.

Ticket holders are invited to come early on performance nights to learn more about the Paul Taylor Dance Company at a free pre-show lecture. The lecture begins at 7:15 p.m. in the Meany Hall west lobby and lasts about 30 minutes.
