Pavel Haas Quartet makes Seattle debut at Meany Hall

The Pavel Haas Quartet will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 16 at Meany Hall, as part of the UW World Series.


Based in Prague, the Pavel Haas Quartet has spent the past several years traveling in Europe to study with some of the masters of the quartet world. With their skill and artistry, the ensemble won the Paolo Borciani competition in Italy in the spring of 2005, and made its U.S. debut in the spring of 2006. Their repertoire emphasizes the works of Czech composers, especially their namesake, Pavel Haas, whose Quartet No. 1 they will perform at Meany Hall, along with compositions by Dvorák and Beethoven.


Ticket holders are invited to come early to learn more about the program the Pavel Haas Quartet will perform at a free pre-show lecture. The lecture begins at 7:15 PM in the Meany Hall west lobby and lasts about 30 minutes.
