Paul Jenny chosen as UW’s vice provost for planning and budgeting

Paul E. Jenny who for the past four years has served as associate vice chancellor of budget and resource planning for the University of California, Berkeley, will become vice provost for planning and budgeting at the UW, effective July 1.

“Paul has deep experience in academic resource management,” says Provost Phyllis Wise in announcing his appointment. “As a Husky, with a B.A. in economics from the UW in 1992, Paul is as excited to be coming to the UW as we are excited to have him.”

Jenny received an M.B.A. from Loyola University New Orleans in 1999. He worked at the Brookings Institution from 1999 to 2002, first serving as director of operations of the Center for Public Policy Education and then director of budget. He worked at the University of Alaska, as associate director of budget and institutional research, from 2002 to 2004.

At Berkeley, he managed and directed the campus’ budget, resource allocation and strategic planning processes. He also served as the lead in designing and implementing a new financial strategic plan.

The UW’s Office of Planning and Budgeting reports to the provost and provides analysis and information services to enhance universitywide planning and policy formation. The office is also responsible for planning and allocation of financial and physical resources to help the University fulfill its mission.
