French pianist here Feb. 20

Pianist Lise de la Salle performs at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, as part of the UW World Series at Meany Hall.

Not yet 20 and already called “a talent in a million” in Gramophone, French pianist de la Salle is surprising audiences and critics with her superb artistry and engaging personality. In August of 2005, she received Gramophone’s “Recording of the Month” for her recording of works by Bach and Liszt. Classical Repertoire calls her “not a young prodigy, but a true artist.”

The program for the concert includes Beethoven’s Sonata No. 18 in E-flat Major, Op. 31, No. 3 and Sonata No. 8 in C Minor, Op. 13 (Pathetique), as well as Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13.

Tickets are $34 ($20 for students) and may be purchased by phone at 206-543-4880, online at www.uwworldseries.org or in person at the UW Arts Ticket Office.
