Trash or treasure? Find out at Artifact ID Day

You can bring your unidentified treasures to the Burke Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, for the museum’s annual Artifact Identification Day.

Do you have an object that you can’t quite place? If it’s from somewhere along the Pacific Rim or North America, one of the Burke’s curators will help you figure it out. Dozens of experts will be available to identify cultural objects from the Northwest Coast, Pacific Islands, and Asia, in addition to specimens from throughout the natural world (including bones, fossils or animal teeth). A limit of two items per visitor is requested because of the event’s popularity. No appraisals will be given.

Artifact Identification Day is included with museum admission. Burke Museum members are “fast tracked” through the line.

While at the museum, explore the art and artifacts from the Burke Museum’s own Native American ethnology collections in the new exhibit of Plateau art and culture, This Place Called Home, accompanied by the historical photography exhibit, Peoples of the Plateau.
