Nominations sought for Distinguished Librarian Award

The dean of university libraries, in cooperation with the Association of Libraries of the UW, has established the first-ever Distinguished Librarian Award, and the selection committee is seeking nominations.

This annual award will recognize a librarian whose contributions advance the mission of the libraries and the University in the areas of teaching, learning, research and innovative approaches to practice. Librarians at UW Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma Libraries, and the M.G. Gallagher Law Library are eligible.

To submit a nomination, send contact information (including name, address, phone number and e-mail address) for yourself and the nominee, and a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing the nominee’s accomplishments to the Chair of the Selection Committee, Paula Walker, Office of the Dean of University Libraries, Allen Library, Box 352900.

The deadline is Feb. 29. The award will be announced in May with a reception held in early June at the Libraries to honor the recipient. For more information, contact Walker at 206-616-8513, or pwalker@u.washington.edu.
