Four A&S dean finalists to speak

Four finalists for the position of dean of the College of Arts and Sciences will be making public presentations in the next month, open to all faculty, staff and students.

The finalists and their presentation times are:


  • David Zaret, former interim dean and executive associate dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University, 4-5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, 110 Kane.
  • Ana Mari Cauce, UW executive vice provost, 4-5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18, 110 Kane.
  • John Frederick, senior fellow, National Association of State Universities & Land Grant Colleges and former provost, University of Nevada, Reno, presentation TBA.
  • James Parente, Jr., interim dean and former associate dean for faculty and research, College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota, presentation TBA.

The A&S Dean Search Committee considered more than 125 candidates and 10 were interviewed by the committee, after which the list was narrowed to the four finalists. The committee chair is Matt O’Donnell, dean of the College of Engineering.
