China’s Ambassador to the U.S. to visit UW Aug. 22

His Excellency Ambassador Zhou Wenzhong, ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United States, will visit the University of Washington at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22 and deliver brief remarks on “China and the Pacific Region in the 21st Century.”

He will speak in the Smith Room, on the third floor of Suzzallo Library. This is an invitation-only event.

The ambassador also will meet with UW President Mark A. Emmert to discuss mutual interests in China.

The UW has a long history of programs, teaching and curricula in China studies, including ongoing student and faculty exchanges. Academic research and cooperation in the fields of global health, sustainable development, health sciences, and epidemiology are among the many areas of scholarly collaboration with educational institutions in China.
