Service Culture Endowed Fund — A tribute to Coulter
In 1999, the Academic Medical Center Service Culture Endowed Fund was created, thanks to an endowment from an anonymous donor made in part to honor the exemplary care a family member received at UW Medical Center. As a tribute to Associate Vice President for Medical Affairs John Coulter, who is retiring July 27, UW Medicine has renamed this fund the John A. Coulter Service Culture Endowed Fund. The program created to promote service excellence will be known as the John A. Coulter Service Excellence Program. Coulter has led the program since it began in 1999. The fund and program have allowed UW Medicine to offer service excellence awards, recognition events, training initiatives, and service grants for faculty and staff, as well as provide funds for amenities for patients and families. The focus is on recognizing and rewarding high-quality service while enhancing the patient experience at our health care entities.
The John A. Coulter Service Culture Endowed Fund and accompanying program are fitting legacies for Coulter. He has worked throughout his tenure at UW to ensure that every employee of UW Medicine is treated respectfully and, in turn, recognizes an obligation to provide the highest quality service to patients and their families. Coulter has exemplified this behavior in all of his interactions with his colleagues throughout the University.
All University of Washington faculty and employees are invited to contribute to the John A. Coulter Service Culture Endowed Fund as one lasting way to say thank you to Coulter and to help promote service excellence throughout UW Medicine.
