Stem cell biology lecture April 24

Sean Morrison, director of the University of Michigan’s Center for Stem Cell Biology, will present Stem Cell Self-Renewal, Cancer Cell Proliferation, and Aging, from 11 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, April 24, in Hogness Auditorium, Health Sciences Center. The seminar is presented by the Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine.

Morrison is also a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator and research associate professor. He studies stem cell biology, including mechanisms that regulate stem cell self renewal, stem cell aging, and organogenesis from stem cells, using hematopoiesis and neural development as model systems. His work on stem cell regulation encompasses both molecular and cellular questions, from the role of transcription factors in cell fate determination to changes in the properties of stem cells during aging.

Part of the UW Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine seminar series, this lecture is open to all faculty, staff and students, and requires to registration.
