Career fair, and more, at UW Tacoma

A career fair, a forum on leadership, information on certificate programs and a photo display all will be offered by UW Tacoma in coming days.


  • On April 10-11, nearly 100 local business, government and nonprofit employers seeking employees with college degrees will gather at UW Tacoma’s 11th-annual Career Fair, sponsored by the UW Tacoma Career Development Center.
    The event, to be held in the university’s Garretson Woodruff Pratt and West Coast Grocery buildings from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., is open to the public but geared primarily toward students and alumni of UW Tacoma.   • What does “good work” mean to you? Four local business leaders will discuss their ideas on leadership in the South Sound at a Leadership Forum at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in UW Tacoma’s Carwein Auditorium. The panel discussion is free and open to the public. For more information, call 253-692-5635.
  • Interested in advancing your career? Learn about eight different opportunities for earning a professional certificate in a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Suite 400A of the Carlton Center building, 1551 Broadway.   • A lecture and photo display at UW Tacoma take up the issue of housing for farm workers. Ricardo Sanchez, a leader in the state’s campaign to improve farm worker housing, will lead a discussion and share a video about housing conditions at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in Carwein Auditorium. In addition, a collection of stirring photos of Washington farm workers is on display in the UW Tacoma library through May 1.
