Edwards psychology lectures begin Feb. 21

The Allen L. Edwards Psychology Lecture series will begin Feb. 21 with Symbolic Understanding in Infants and Young Children: Challenges and Benefits, by Stephanie Carlson, UW; and Judy DeLoache, University of Virginia.

The lectures bring prominent, nationally distinguished psychologists to the University to co-present with faculty from the UW Department of Psychology. This year the series features experts in the fields of visual cognition, child development, suicide and ethics. The free public series is made possible by a bequest from the late Professor Allen L. Edwards.

Other lectures in the series include:

February 28: Suicidal Individuals: Evaluation, Therapies, and Ethics, by Marsha Linehan, UW; and Barbara Stanley, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons

March 7: Vision and the Brain: Unseen Complexities, by Scott O. Murray, UW; and Melvyn A. Goodale, University of Western Ontario.

All lectures will be at 7:30 p.m. in 120 Kane. They are free, but pre-registration is requested. Go to https://go.washington.edu/uwaa/events/2007psych_lectures/
