Pay stations replace parking meters near IMA

This week, curbside solar pay stations will be installed to replace the coin-only parking meters in front of Graves Hall, the IMA and in lot E17 on the northwest corner of Husky Stadium. The change may affect people visiting the Husky Ticket Office, Graves Hall, the Sports Medicine Clinic, the IMA, Hec Ed and other east campus facilities. The new pay stations will be operational the first week of December.

The parking rates and time restrictions for the pay stations will stay the same as the old meters ($3 per hour; 2-hour max). The new pay stations will accept coins, $1 and $5 bills, and Visa & Mastercard payments. The new UW pay stations will issue a permit which must be displayed face up on the dashboard and be readable from outside the vehicle. The permits don’t stick to the window like City of Seattle pay stations receipts.

The hours of operation and enforcement are the same as the rest of the UW Seattle campus, 6 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Friday and 7 a.m.-noon on Saturday. However, the pay stations will accept payments as early as 5 a.m.

Between 10 and 12 new parking spaces will also be added along the western curb in front of the IMA and Graves Hall which will also require pay station permits. Two pay stations will be installed in front of the IMA, one pay station will be installed in front of Graves and one will be installed in E-17. Parking may be purchased from any pay station for any space. The new pay stations are battery-powered with a solar-charging system. Yes, they are recharging even when the sun is not out!
