Carolfest planned Dec. 4; symphony Dec. 7

If you need to get in the mood for the holidays, the UW choirs may help you out when they present a festive concert of seasonal music, from carols both ancient and modern to vocal jazz arrangements. The program is at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4 in Meany Theater.

In addition to holiday music sung by each choir, the combined choirs will perform O Come, O Come Emmanuel and Gaudete, and will be joined by the UW Wind Ensemble in a grand finale — Randol Bass’ A Christmas Flourish.

Later in the week, the University Symphony will perform, also in Meany Theater. The Dec. 7 concert features soloists Michael Jinsoo Lim, Violin; and Melia Watras, viola; in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante in e-flat major, K. 364 for violin, viola and orchestra. Other works on the program include Purcell’s Suite from The Fairly Queen and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 (Eroica).

Tickets for both concerts are $10 and are available at the door.
