Forum on I-933 slated for Oct. 12

A public forum on I-933 will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 in 130 Kane. I-933, titled the “Property Fairness Initiative,” would impose a “pay or waive” policy to compensate people who have been hurt by land-use regulations. The government would have the choice of paying compensation for restrictions placed on landowners or either modifying or waiving the restriction.

At the forum, Glenn Pascall, a regional economist and research coordinator for the UW Northwest Center for Livable Communities’ study on I-933, will review the initiative’s impacts, while Professor Sy Adler from Portland State University will discuss the similar Measure 37 that passed in Oregon. A panel moderated by Steve Scher of KUOW will then present various perspectives on I-933. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
