Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Seattle

Mayor Greg Nickels declared this September to be Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Seattle. The proclamation, signed Sept. 21, was requested by the Ovarian and Breast Cancer Alliance of Washington to promote awareness of ovarian cancer symptoms and the importance of early detection. A similar proclamation was signed by Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire. The alliance works with community organizations to educate women and health care professionals about ovarian and breast cancer. Among its community supporters are UW physicians, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and the UW Tumor Vaccine Group.
