Point of Pride: Puget Sound Heart Walk coming Oct. 7

UW Medicine is gearing up once again for this year’s Puget Sound Heart Walk, which takes place Saturday, Oct. 7, at Qwest Field. UW Medicine’s collective goal is to have 1,000 walkers on 100 teams, and is currently looking for team captains to participate.

Last year UW Medical Center, with teams from Harborview, UW Physicians, and the School of Medicine, won the Heart Walk Hospital Cup challenge for the second time in three years. The cup is awarded to the hospital team that has the largest percent increase in donations from the previous year. Collectively, UW Medicine had 523 walkers who raised nearly $60,000 for the American Heart Association.

UW Medicine teams will walk on behalf of the Regional Heart Center, one of the premier heart centers in the Northwest.

For more information about the walk or to become a team captain, contact Julie Furlong, project coordinator at 206-598-8826 or jafb@u.washington.edu. If you participated in the last heart walk, you can go directly to the Heart Walk Web site www.pugetsoundheartwalk.kintera.org.
