Support for geriatric nursing career


Dr. Hilaire Thompson, a postdoctoral fellow who will be an assistant professor in the School of Nursing’s Dept. of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems this fall, has been named a Dr. Claire Fagin nurse fellow by the John A. Hartford Foundation and Atlantic Philanthropies. She will be part of the Building Academic Geriatric Nursing Capacity program, and will receive $120,000 to support her academic career.


UW seeks answers to type of MS


Pacific Northwest Friends of FSH Research, a Kirkland nonprofit, has given UW researchers $50,000 for the first year of their proposed two-year study of facioscapulohumeral dystrophy, or FSHD. The total gift will be $100,000. The study is under the direction of Drs. Daniel Miller, assistant professor of pediatrics, and Stephen Tapscott, assistant professor of neurology.
