Wealth of musical styles on display

A wealth of musical performances awaits audiences in the next week, from student composers, percussion, choirs and choruses. The events are sponsored by the UW School of Music and are open to all.



  • Composers’ Workshop: Original works by student performers will be performed, 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 26, in the Brechemin Auditorium, School of Music, all tickets $5.
  • The UW Percussion Ensemble will be joined by the UW Steel Drum Ensemble and the UW Alumni Percussion Group Seattle Percussive Arts to present Percussion Showcase, 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, in the Meany Studio Theater. All tickets are $5.
  • The UW Chamber Singers will sing of the unexpected twists and turns in life’s journey in Transfigured: Music for the Journey of Life, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, in the Meany Theater. All tickets are $10.
  • The UW Gospel Choir, with more than 100 voices of students and community members, will perform at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, in 130 Kane. All tickets are $5.
  • The University Singers, the UW Women’s Chorus and the Recital Chorus will present vignettes of song evoking the art and spirit of the Northwest at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, June 1, in the Meany Theater. All tickets are $10.
  • Opera Workshop: Weill, Mozart and Others will feature UW voice students performing scenes and arias from Mozart’s Cossi fan tutte and others. All tickets are $5.
