Guitars, harps and international music in concerts this week

Concerts at the School of Music this week feature music from around the world, as well as music featuring guitars and harps.

On Saturday, May 13, UW Ethnomusicology students perform solos and ensembles from places such as Bali, China, Ghana, Mexico, Nepal, Scotland, and more. The concert is at 7 p.m. in Brechemin Auditorium.

Students of Pamela Vokolek perform works for solo harp, harp and flute, and harp ensemble on Thursday, May 18. Included is music by Rameau, Ravel, Franck, McKay, Mendelssohn, Dandrieu, Salzedo, Tournier, and Albeniz. The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. in 130 Kane.

And on Friday, May 19, students of Steven Novacek perform a guitar ensemble concert of duos by Santorsola, Reich, Schoenberg, Machado, and Petit. That concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Brechemin Auditorium.

Tickets for the ethnomusicology and guitar concerts are $5; tickets for the harp concert are $10. They are available at the door. For information, call 206-685-8384.
