UW extends search for new chancellor at UW, Bothell

News and Information

President Mark A. Emmert has decided to extend the search for the new chancellor at the University of Washington, Bothell.

Four candidates identified by the search committee had met with faculty, students and administrative leaders in recent weeks. But after meeting with all the candidates, Emmert and Provost Phyllis Wise decided to continue the search.

“The continued growth and development of the Bothell campus is very important to the future of the University,” Emmert said. “We are committed to identifying just the right person to direct its progress in the years to come.”

Steven G. Olswang has agreed to continue to serve as interim chancellor until a permanent chancellor is named. “We have great confidence in Steve’s abilities and in the work he is doing on behalf of the Bothell campus,” Emmert said.
