UW Bothell offers dual enrollment to Everett students

Starting this winter, students will be able to enroll at UW Bothell while completing an associate degree from Everett Community College.

Everett Community College President Charlie Earl and UW Bothell Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs G. Thomas Bellamy signed the dual enrollment agreement this week.

“The dual enrollment program offers a major benefit to Everett Community College students,” Everett Community College President Charlie Earl said. “It’s one of several ways EvCC is working to increase access to bachelor’s degree options for students in our region.”

UW Bothell launched its dual enrollment program in Fall 2005.

“In its 15th year of serving students from throughout the North Puget Sound region, the University of Washington Bothell is proud to be able to continue meeting the needs of Snohomish County residents,” said UW Bothell Vice Chancellor G. Thomas Bellamy, who noted that about 25 percent of Bothell’s students come from Snohomish County. “In addition to offering the new dual enrollment program we are announcing today, the University of Washington Bothell is bringing its outstanding faculty to Everett for business classes this winter and business and nursing classes this spring.”

Here’s how the dual enrollment program works:

  • After earning their first 45 credits at Everett Community College and meeting program requirements, students can apply for dual enrollment.
  • Admitted students become official students at both Everett Community College and the UW Bothell and can take classes at both schools.
  • Students complete their associate’s degree at Everett Community College while taking upper-level courses at UWB.
  • Students can combine credits to achieve full-time status for financial aid and GI Bill benefits and apply benefits at both schools.
  • Upper-division classes are being offered at UW Bothell in business administration, computing and software systems, and interdisciplinary arts and sciences.

University Center at Everett Station is also offering two UWB classes starting Jan. 3.

“I would encourage students to contact UW Bothell or Everett Community College to talk about this option,” said Christine Kerlin, Associate Dean of Enrollment Services and University Center of North Puget Sound Director.
