Norm Stamper featured in Patriot Act forum

“Caught in the (Patriot) Act” is the title of a forum on the implications of the Patriot Act featuring Norm Stamper, former Seattle police chief, and other speakers. The forum will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the HUB auditorium.

The event will bring together several speakers from the Seattle area to discuss the Patriot Act and its effect on civil liberties and government policies, now and in the future. Stamper will be the keynote speaker; other speakers will include Philip Bevis, a Seattle bookseller who says the act is a violation of customer confidentiality.

The forum is sponsored by Libertarians at the UW, the UW Young Democrats, the Muslim Student Association and the American Civil Liberties Union. Admission is free for UW faculty, staff and students, and $2 for the general public. To learn more call 206-375-2547.
