Drug development experts to speak at UW Nov. 29
National experts in drug development and drug safety will speak with the public during a free forum on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at 7 p.m. in 130 Kane.
The forum, titled “Medicines and Your Health: Prescriptions for Safe and Effective Drugs,” will review the current system of drug approval and safety monitoring, evaluate options for making safer, cheaper drugs, and share resources to help the public make informed health decisions.
Speakers include Dr. Janet Woodcock, deputy director and chief operating officer at the Food and Drug Administration; Dr. Michael King, associate director of clinical pharmacology at Johnson & Johnson; and Dr. Bruce Psaty, professor of epidemiology and medicine at the UW.
The forum, funded by the UW Office of Research and the Hope Heart Institute, is presented by the Forum on Science Ethics and Policy (FOSEP), a multi-disciplinary, non-advocacy group of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows.
