Grants to support graduate, professional student development
President Emmert has supplied one-year pilot money for an effort to create leadership and professional development opportunities for graduate and professional students.
The Learning for Leadership Council will be dispensing grants to support student-led initiatives that create professional development and leadership opportunities for UW graduate and professional students. An information session for potential applicants will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12 in 309 HUB.
Any graduate or professional student may apply for a grant from the council. Grants will generally be in the range of $500 to $1,000, with an absolute maximum of $3,000. In addition to funding for operational costs, the council can provide assistance with event planning, project management, and mentoring for project leaders.
The council is chaired by GPSS President Adam Grupp. It has seven voting students and several ex-officio members. The voting student members of the council are appointed by the Graduate & Professional Student Senate.
