UW to host US.Japan Immunology Board symposium

This year for the first time, the UW will host the annual symposium of the U.S.-Japan Immunology Board.

The international meeting, with presentations by researchers from both countries, is called “Frontiers in Immunobiology.”

Sessions will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, July 26 and 27, in room T-739 of the Health Sciences Center, and will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day. Everyone is welcome to attend; registration is not required and there is no charge.

The symposium alternates between locations in Japan and the United States. The Immunology Board was established in 1981 to foster collaboration and cooperative research.

It is part of the U.S.-Japan Cooperative Medical Science Program, organized in 1965 to focus on health problems in Asia.

The primary organizers of the program in Seattle are Dr. Helen Quill of the National Institutes of Health and Dr. Pamela Fink, UW professor of immunology. Dr. Christopher Wilson, chair of the UW Department of Immunology, is also an organizer and local host, and several UW faculty members will be making preesentations.
