Skin cancer on TV
UW Medical Center and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance will be prominently featured in the KING TV “Cancer-Free Washington” special on skin cancer this month. The special will air for the first time on KING TV (Channel 5) Monday, June 27 at 8 p.m., with repeat showings on Northwest Cable News on Wednesday, June 29 at 8 p.m., and KONG TV (Channel 6/16) Sunday, July 10 at 9 p.m. The special is hosted by KING TV anchor Jean Enersen. The special will include physicians Dr. Zsolt Argenyi of Dermatology and Pathology, who will discuss detection of suspicious skin lesions; and Dr. David Byrd of Surgery, discussing treatment of melanoma. The show will also include UW-affiliated physicians and patients from the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center. Traditional healing practices
||A series of presentations on cultural competency and traditional healing practices has been organized this summer for students in the Summer Medical/ Dental Education Program. The first program is “Curanderismo: Ancestral Healing Practices,” by Robert Dansie, CEO of Cultural Wisdom, from 1 to 3 p.m., Friday, July 1, in Hogness Auditorium. Three other programs will be at the same time and place on July 8, July 15 and July 22. The topics are Native American, African and African American, and Chinese traditional practices. All sessions are open to everyone.
