Media Advisory: Panelists to discuss proposal for managing Northwest power grid
WHAT: Panel discussion about Grid West, a proposed nonprofit corporation that would manage key features of the Northwest’s electric-power system.
WHO: Participants from public and private utilities, government and industry.
WHEN: Dec. 2, 4:30 p.m.
WHERE: Parrington Hall 309, UW campus.
DETAILS: To improve reliability and forestall market manipulation, Grid West would place a large swath of the West’s electric-transmission system under the management of a new independent regional organization intended to be accountable to all users. Decisions on going forward with planning Grid West are expected in early December.
The event is co-sponsored by the UW’s Evans School of Public Affairs, the Electric Energy Industrial Consortium (EEIC) of the Electrical Engineering Department, and the Seattle Chapter of the IEEE Power Engineering Society.
