Media Advisory: Panelists to discuss proposal for managing Northwest power grid

WHAT: Panel discussion about Grid West, a proposed nonprofit corporation that would manage key features of the Northwest’s electric-power system.



WHO: Participants from public and private utilities, government and industry.


WHEN: Dec. 2, 4:30 p.m.


WHERE: Parrington Hall 309, UW campus.


DETAILS: To improve reliability and forestall market manipulation, Grid West would place a large swath of the West’s electric-transmission system under the management of a new independent regional organization intended to be accountable to all users. Decisions on going forward with planning Grid West are expected in early December.


The event is co-sponsored by the UW’s Evans School of Public Affairs, the Electric Energy Industrial Consortium (EEIC) of the Electrical Engineering Department, and the Seattle Chapter of the IEEE Power Engineering Society. It will be shown later on TVW’s “From the Forum” (information at www.tvw.org)
