Hutchings to speak at forum on teaching, learning

The spring Quarterly Forum on Teaching and Learning will feature Pat Hutchings, vice president of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, giving a presentation titled Students and Faculty Learning Smarter: Lessons from the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. The talk will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 29, in 389 Mary Gates.

Hutchings describes “learning smarter” as “work that helps students and faculty be more reflective, self-aware, intentional learners.” At the forum, she will discuss not only this definition, but also what campuses are doing to institute new structures and courses that promote such learning.

The presentation is designed for faculty, administrators and graduate students. Those interested should RSVP with their name and department to rsvp@cidr.washington. For more information on Hutchings’ work, visit http://depts.washington.edu/cidrweb/QuarterlyForums.html.
