Elected fellows
UW faculty members Dr. Carolyn Webster-Stratton and Dr. Charles Bombardier have been elected fellows of the American Psychological Association for 2004. Fellows are selected for their exceptional and outstanding contyributions to the research, teaching or practice of psychology. Webster-Stratton is professor of family and child nursing and director of the School of Nursing’s Parenting Clinic. Bombardier is an associate professor of rehabilitation medicine who practices at Harborview Medical Center.
Support for grief
The Journey Program at Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center, which provides services to families who have experienced the death of a child, is recruiting caring and compassionate facilitators for their parent and sibling loss support groups. A two-day training is planned Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6. A few spaces may be available for those who are interested only in the training. Named to council
Dr. Stanley Fields, professor of genome sciences and of medicine and adjunct professor of microbiology, has been appointed to the National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council. The council reviews research and training grant applications to the National Institute of General Medical Sciences and offers advice on pokicy issues and programs. The appointment is for a four-year term.
