Informatics consultant to visit in December

Dr. Nancy Staggers, a consultant to the School of Nursing’s Undergraduate Informatics Initiative, will make two presentations at the Health Sciences Center on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Staggers is known for her leading role in developing informatics programs at the University of Utah, where she teaches in the Clinical Informatics Program and lectures in medical informatics. She previously worked for the U.S. Department of Defense, where she developed a clinical information system program, now installed at 13 sites. She is particularly interested in human-computer interaction and interface design.

She will speak on “Quality Chasm: Implications for Nursing” from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m., in room T-747, as part of the Selected Topics in Health Informatics series.

She will speak to nursing faculty and certificate students on “A Vision for Nursing Informatics” from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in room D-209, also on Dec. 3. Both presentations are open to everyone.
