Panel to discuss Nickel and Dimed in Seattle

The Campus Business & Professional Women will present a panel on Nickel & Dimed in Seattle at noon on Friday, Nov. 22 in the UW Medical Center, Room SW 130 (within Plaza Cafe). Lunch is available for $13.50.

The panel will include Verlene Wilder, King County Labor Council; Alice Woldt, Church Council of Greater Seattle; and Aiko Schaeffer, State Poverty Action Network. Based on Barbara Ehrenreich’s book Nickel & Dimed: On Not Getting By in America, and the play produced here by the Intiman Theatre, the panel will discuss the lives of those living in Seattle on minimum wages without benefits during an economic turndown. The photos that appeared at the Intiman Theatre production will also be shown.

You don’t have to be a BPW member or even a woman to attend. Reservations must be made by Tuesday, Nov. 19 for lunch. Make checks payable to Campus BPW and send to Sue Suwiwattanakul, Computer Maintenance Group, Box 354155.
