‘The Lover’ opens in Meany Studio

The School of Drama opens The Lover next week in Meany Studio Theatre. Written by Elizabeth Egloff, the play is a tale of passionate, problematic love in a time of radical social change and is based on On the Eve, by Ivan Turgenev.

The plot revolves around Elena, who, on the eve of the Crimean War, is introduced to a young Bulgarian patriot. His idealism matches her own and he becomes Elena’s companion and the catalyst for revolutionary changes in her life.

Directed by Matthew Arbour, The Lover opens Wednesday, Nov. 6 and plays through Sunday, Nov. 17. Preview performances are on Nov. 3 and 5.
