Conference focuses on international health careers
Registration ends Oct. 31 for the Western Regional International Health Conference, which will be held in Seattle, Nov. 15 to 17. The conference is organized by students in the School of Medicine International Health Group and supported by the International Health Medical Education Consortium.
The goal of the International Health Conference is to inspire health professions students to seek careers in international health, to provide them with information about how to pursue such careers, and to sensitize them to the ethical issues specific to careers in international health. The audience will include medical, nursing, pharmacy, public health and other health-professions students.
The conference will open with remarks by Dr. Paul Ramsey, vice president for medical affairs and dean of the School of Medicine, and Dr. Patricia Wahl, dean of the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, on Friday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m. in Hogness Auditorium. Dr. William Foege, former head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and currently with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, will give the keynote address.
