‘Network’ series ends Sept. 20

Network, the monthly breakfast speaker series for UW faculty and staff, will end Sept. 20, UW Training and Development has announced. Despite cost-saving and revenue-generating efforts, Network is not a self-sustaining program and the department says it can no longer continue its operation in the current budget situation.

T&D thanks the Network Committee and the many speakers and attendees, for their support of Network through the past 10 years. The remaining sessions include:

  •  “Simplicity: Living With Joy and Balance” by Cecile Andrews of Seeds of Simplicity on Aug. 9; and
  •  “Using Cooperation and Reconciliation to Combat Hatred and Fear” by the Very Rev. Robert V. Taylor, Dean of St. Mark’s Cathedral and President of the Desmond Tutu Foundation, on Sept. 20. Attendees at Taylor’s program are asked to bring school and art supplies for a donation drive to benefit a community program in Nicaragua.
