Ave revitalization project begins soon

The City of Seattle will begin a University Way revitalization project later this month.

The project, which will continue for about 15 months, will result in all new street surfaces, wider sidewalks, new utilities, improved landscaping, new street art, and improved bus stop shelters.

The project will also include some inconvenience for people trying to drive on University Way between the intersections of Northeast Campus Parkway and Northeast 50th Street. Two-block segments of the street will be closed to vehicle traffic at different times during the project, but pedestrian access to businesses will remain open. Buses that normally run on the Ave will be rerouted to Northeast 15th Street for the duration of the project.

Most of the work will be restricted to business hours and construction will be stopped on holidays and on home football Saturdays. For more information contact Art Brochet, the community liaison for the project, at 206-547-4417 or 206-240-1106 or by e-mail at art@muirpr.com.
