Alzheimer’s Disease Forum June 5 at Shoreline
UW units are sponsoring an Alzheimer’s Disease Public Forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at the Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 1st Ave. N.E. The program is free and everyone is welcome.
The UW Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, based in the School of Medicine, and the de Tornyay Center for Healthy Aging in the School of Nursing, have joined with the Friends of Alzheimer’s Research to present the program.
Dr. Linda Teri, director of the de Tornyay Center and a researcher who has done extensive work on quality-of-life issues for Alzheimer’s patients and their caregivers, will give the introduction.
Dr. Eric Larson, medical director of UW Medical Center and professor of medicine, will speak on “Changes in How Doctors Approach Alzheimer’s Disease Then and Now: A 25-Year Perspective.”
Dr. Heather Young, research associate professor of nursing, will speak on “Choices: Marking Decisions about Assisted Living and Long-Term Care.” She is the co-author, with Dr. Rheba de Tornyay, dean emeritus of nursing, of a book on choosing retirement living situations.
