Summer construction to be discussed

If you’d like to get more information about construction on campus this summer and how it will affect you, you can attend a brown bag presentation at noon Friday in 309 HUB.

According to Construction Coordinator Ivan Turner, those projects include the reconstruction of another section of Stevens Way and upgrading emergency power at the power plant. The latter project will mean closing the segment of Jefferson Road in front of the power plant all summer and turning it into a one-lane road until next spring.

The Stevens Way work is the continuation of a project to rebuild the existing asphalt pavement with a cement concrete pavement and to replace or restore associated subsurface utilities. The segment of the road affected runs from Benton Lane (the EE/CSE Building) to Jefferson Road (the Engineering Library). The project is planned for July 1–Sept. 6.

At the brown bag, both projects will be described in greater detail and schedule issues, traffic and parking impacts, and noise- and air-quality issues will all be discussed.
