Entrepreneurial transfer symposium set
The School of Medicine and the School of Engineering, along with Frazier & Co., a venture capital firm, are sponsoring a Symposium on Entrepreneurial Transfer for faculty members in the schools. Subtitled “Developing a Viable Company with Venture Capital Funding,” the program is scheduled from 7:30 a.m. to noon, Thursday, June 13, in the Walker-Ames Room of Kane Hall on campus.
The goal of the symposium is to provide critical information for entrepreneurial transfer of a new technology from the academic environment to a commercial enterprise with venture capital funding.
From the UW, participants will include Dr. Albert Berger, School of Medicine associate dean for research and graduate education; Dr. Denice Denton, dean of the College of Engineering; Steven Olswang, UW vice provost, and Dr. Michael Song, executive director of the Center for Technology Entrepreneurship.
Representatives from the Washington Research Foundation, Frazier & Co., Arch Venture Partners, and Perkins Coie law firm will also be presenters or panelists.
To register for the symposium, send e-mail to pat@frazierco.com. The event is free, but preregistration is required by Friday, May 24, and space is limited. Contact Industry Relations at 616-0750 with questions about the symposium.
