Annual cycling event planned

Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 17.

But a series of activities on campus surrounding the event begin Wednesday, May 15.

Events get under way at 11 a.m. with an electric bike display at T-639 Health Sciences Center. That event runs until 1:30 p.m. Safety conscious cyclists can purchase bike helmets and lights at the event at discounted prices with a U-PASS.

From noon to 12:30 p.m. there will be a bike fashion show and from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. a discussion of the health benefits of cycling, also in T-639 of the Health Sciences Center.

There will be 36 commuter stations around the Puget Sound on May 17. The stations will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. Cyclists who stop at the stations can enter a drawing for one of several prizes.
