VICTORIOUS VIDEOS: Several videos produced by UWTV have been honored recently. “Touring the UW Health Sciences Center,” sponsored by Health Sciences Medical Affairs and News & Community Relations, won a Gold Aurora Award in the Public Relations/Awareness category. The video was produced by Michelle Mansfield and Julianne Collier and directed by Mansfield. The Aurora Awards are an independent film and video competition for commercials, cable programming, documentaries, industrial, instructional and corporate videos. “Student Voices: Christine Palermo” won an Award of Distinction and “Student Voices: Kimberly Gustafson” won an Honorable Mention in the Public Service Announcement category of The Videographer Awards. Both videos were sponsored by University Relations. “Christine Palermo” was produced by Christopher Redner and directed by Corinne Balisky. “Kimberly Gustafson” was both produced and directed by Redner. The Videographer Awards is a national awards competition for directors, editors, producers, shooters, talent, writers and all other production professionals.


ACADEMY AWARD: Charles Johnson, professor of English and award-winning author (Middle Passage), has received an Academy Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. The award, to be presented May 15 in New York, carries a $7,500 prize.
