Genome Center holds evening open house in conjunction with art exhibit

In conjunction with the art exhibit on the human genome now at the Henry Art Gallery, the UW Genome Center will have an evening open house with laboratory tours on Wednesday, April 24.

“Gene(sis): Contemporary Art Explores Human Genomics” is a major traveling exhibition organized at the UW. It is designed to engage people interested in the relationship between biomedical developments of the Human Genome Project and their potential imapct on broad aspects of daily life.

No registration is needed to particpate in the Wednesday evening program. The hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Participants should use the north entrance to Fluke Hall, between the Faculty Club and the Burke Gilman Trail. Come up to the building’s second floor.

Participants will have guided laboratory tours, see robotic equipment and instrumentation in action, and learn about DNA sequencing. Technical staff will be on hand to answer questions about UW participation in the Human Genome Project and other projects involving large-scale analysis of DNA.
