Valentine’s concert has love theme

The School of Music will help romantics celebrate Valentine’s Day with a concert tonight at 7:30 in Meany Theater. Tickets are $8–10 and available at the door.

Love Notes will feature School of Music faculty and students along with narrators from other UW schools and departments during a performance that features evocative readings as well as a wide range of music.

Concert creator and coordinator Geoffrey Boers says the show will feature everything from sultry Latin love songs to the beautiful Romantic sounds of Brahms and Chopin.

“The concert will carry the audience in words and music through the ‘Spiral Journey’ of love, to use a title of one of the pieces on the program,” Boers, an assistant professor of music, said. “We will celebrate new love, enjoy the passion of love in bloom, and share the grief of love lost. Perhaps most importantly, we will explore the hopes of love of greater things, love renewed, and love reborn.”
