David Cummings is fifth Philip Fialkow Scholar

Dr. David Cummings, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Metabolism, Endocrinology and Nutrition, has become the fifth recipient of the Philip J. Fialkow Scholar Award.


The award, named in memory of the late UW Dean of Medicine Philip Fialkow, recognizes outstanding achievements made by faculty members early in their careers.


At the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, Cummings conducts research on body-weight regulation. He graduated from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He is a recipient of a National Institutes of Health Physician-Scientist Award and a Burroughs-Wellcome Fund Career Award. Cummings joined the UW School of Medicine faculty in 1998.
