Connie Kravas selected as vice president for development and alumni relations
Dr. Constance H. Kravas, currently vice chancellor for university advancement at University of California, Riverside, has been selected as vice president for development and alumni relations at the University of Washington, President Richard L. McCormick announced. The appointment will be effective Aug. 16, 2001, subject to approval by the Board of Regents.
“Connie Kravas is an exceptional development professional and will be a great addition to the University’s leadership team,” said McCormick. “She has a wonderfully successful track record and knows our community and the people who live here very well. We are fortunate to be able to attract her back to the Northwest and to put her abundant leadership and fundraising skills to work on behalf of the University and its alumni.”
As vice president at UC Riverside, Kravas is leader of a comprehensive program involving alumni and constituent relations, development, special events, and university relations, as well as community, federal and state government relations.
Prior to joining UC Riverside, Kravas had a variety of positions in a long and productive career at Washington State University. She was associate director of university development and vice president of the WSU Foundation from 1978 to 1981. From 1981 to 1999 she was executive director of university development and president of the WSU Foundation. She was associate vice president for university advancement from 1991 to 1997 and from 1997 to 1999 served as vice president for university advancement.
She was one of the leaders of WSU’s first comprehensive campaign, which raised $275.4 million and drew contributions from over 54% of WSU alumni. The campaign, completed in 1997, exceeded its original goal of $200 million, which was increased to $250 million in the final year of the campaign.
Kravas has a bachelor’s degree from Pacific Lutheran University, a master’s degree from Indiana State University and a doctorate in education from WSU.
She was named a Major Gift Laureate in 1998 by the Institute for Charitable Giving, in recognition of lifetime achievement in major gift fundraising and contributions to the profession. She was named one of four WSU Women of the Year in 1996 and received certificates of appreciation in 1993 and 1994 from WSU Multicultural Student Services for her commitment and contributions to increasing diversity. She was named Mother of the Year, presented by the students of Pullman High School, in 1991. In 1990, she received the Centennial Alumni Achievement award from Pacific Lutheran University, awarded to 100 alumni on the occasion of the university’s 100th anniversary.
Kravas’s salary will be $240,000.
