High school science fans go head to head at UW in Techno Bowl 2000

WHO:
Four-student teams from 12 Western Washington high schools competing to show their science and mathematics mastery.

WHAT:
Techno Bowl 2000, a quiz show-style competition with $7,000 in scholarship money at stake.

WHEN:
Saturday, March 4, 10 a.m.

WHERE:
More Hall Second Floor, University of Washington, Seattle. More Hall is located southeast of the Drumheller Fountain near the corner of Stevens Way and Mason Road.

DETAILS:
More than 100 area high school students, teacher/coaches, parents and engineers will meet at the University of Washington Saturday for the Techno Bowl 2000, a quiz-show-style contest designed to test students’ science and math prowess. The teams will attempt to provide questions for science and math answers. Twelve high school teams are participating: Olympic, Friday Harbor, Sultan, Bothell, Snohomish, Auburn Riverside, Mariner, Bellevue, West Seattle, Henry Jackson and Darrington. Each student will receive a $50 U.S. savings bond for taking part, while members of the top four teams will get $100 bonds. Students on the first place team will receive $1,000 toward their college education. The first round begins at 10 a.m., round two starts at 10:45 and the final round begins at 11:30. After lunch and an awards ceremony, the students will be free to tour the UW campus. The Techno Bowl is sponsored by the Society for American Military Engineers and the UW Department of !
