Harborview receives commendation from Joint Commission
Harborview Medical Center has received a three-year accreditation from the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations with the special designation of commendation. This is the highest level of accreditation awarded by the Joint Commission, and Harborview received this rating for the second consecutive time. Only 16 percent of hospitals surveyed receive this level of accreditation from the Joint Commission.
Harborview received no type 1 recommendations for improvement and a score of 96 percent, compared to a national mean score of 88 percent. Joint Commission standards have been more rigorous than in the past, yet Harborview earned a higher score than the medical center received three years ago.
“This is an outstanding accomplishment and the result of every employee?s hard work and unwavering commitment to Harborview,” said David Jaffe, Harborview?s executive director. “This second straight commendation recognizes the high-quality care and outstanding teamwork that exist at Harborview.”
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission is dedicated to improving the quality of care of the nation?s heath care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission?s on-site survey of Harborview occurred in September.
