Director-General of World Trade Organization to participate in campus dialogue
Mike Moore, director-general of the World Trade Organization, will participate in a discussion of WTO-related issues from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 1 in the HUB Auditorium on the University of Washington campus.
Seating is limited. Admission will be granted to individuals with UW identification (faculty, staff or students) or with pre-printed tickets.
After an introduction by UW President Richard L. McCormick and some brief remarks, Moore will take questions from a panel composed of individuals who are knowledgeable on labor issues, economics, the environment, agriculture and health. He then will take questions from the audience.
Moore was the youngest member of parliament ever elected in New Zealand. Prior to that time, he worked as a printer, construction worker, meat packer and social worker. He has served in a variety of positions in New Zealand’s government, including trade minister. He was appointed to his position with the WTO Sept. 1.
